Red Flag Law Senate Vote Today Feb 7

February 7, 2020Dear Friends,The “Extreme Risk Firearm Protection Order Act” or the “Red Flag” law has passed two Senate committees and is scheduled for the Senate debate and vote this morning, Thursday, February 7.   The Senate convenes at 11:00 a.m.The law has been amended to allow only police officers to petition the court for gun confiscation. The issue remains the lack of due process for the accused, the securing of personal property and the burden on the court system.  Paramount is the violation of second amendment rights; the right of every citizen to bear arms.Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is pursuing a hard left agenda and the Red Flag law in one aspect of her endeavor to improve her standing as a hard line Progressive.  Our more liberal House of Representatives will be inclined to follow suit if the Senate floor vote is substantial. In an Albuquerque Journal survey published today, shows a slight majority of New Mexicans, 52%, favor the law.Your presents in the gallery today would declare an opposition to the violation of this civil right.   If you cannot attend, please call your Senator or the Capitol switchboard to express your opposition.Your legislator’s phone number can be found by clicking, then click on Legislators.   The capitol switchboard number is (505) 986-4589.Thank you and God bless the State of New Mexico.New Mexico
